Guest Reviews
We are a new business and therefore very much appreciate guest reviews, as they provide our future guests with outsider insights into the property and local area.
If you've stayed at Six Herdwick Barns we'd very much appreciate it if you could spare a few moments to leave your review below. Thank you.
We hope to welcome you back again soon.
We had an absolutely lovely stay in this well equipped, stylish and very comfortable cottage. The location is great and very tranquil. There are lovely views from the garden and it is within easy reach of Penrith. It was a smooth process to book the cottage and deal with Ruth directly. We wil be back to stay again.

As people who have booked holiday homes both in the UK and France/Spain, there's a moment when you first enter the property when you either have the Wow factor or you don't. Sometimes, we've had the Wow factor but the reality of the stay hasn't lived up to it. This could be poor use of space, lack of equipment, no basics provided etc. The reverse has also been true, where the property was plain and simple but lots of thought has gone into what guests need for a good stay.
Six Herdwick Barns has it all....then some! What a stunning property with the most impressive attention to detail. We used the ground floor bedroom which is beautifully furnished and finished to a very high standard. This room looks out onto the long expanse of garden, is very private with outside seating, so perfect for that first coffee on a sunny morning. Or.....a yoga session? With vistas of the Pennines in the distance.
The kitchen is impressive with an open plan layout and everything you need for self catering including lots of basic ingredients including oil, spices, herbs, sauces. There's was a great welcome pack waiting for us too!
The lounge area looks onto the garden, it is well laid out in a Scandi style with log burner and flat screen TV. The owners' love of all things Lake District is apparent in the decor and books on display for guests to peruse and be inspired! The underfloor heating gives the room a warm hug and is very cosy once the log burner is fired up.
The ground bathroom is easily accessed from the large entrance hall as well as the bedroom. It is immaculate and stocked up with shampoo, shower gel etc.
The first floor bedroom is well designed with a very different colourway to the rest of the property and is yet another Wow when you enter. Towels and bathrobes add the luxurious touch and compliment another large bathroom off the spacious landing area overlooking the entrance hallway below.
The addition of a secure cycle store externally is a handy extra. This holiday would suit walkers, cyclists or anyone looking for a quiet retreat, with Askham village and pubs a mile away and the fells a short walk too. Or just simply relax in luxury and enjoy the surroundings. We will most definitely re-visit this property.
